WELCOME TO “OUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME”
CALVARY CHRISTIAN PRESCHOOL

Lisa DutyA home where children are looked upon as special gifts from our Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself! Calvary Christian Preschool seeks to view the world from a child’s viewpoint. In Matthew 18:3 Jesus said, “. . . .unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Each child is unique and worth pursuing for the cause of Jesus Christ.

For the above reason, Calvary Christian Preschool provides an environment where children are surrounded with a developmentally appropriate spiritually based education. We believe that children learn best through the use of their five senses. Our preschool offers a unique balance between a center-based and teacher-directed educational atmosphere. Our faculty regularly pray for each child and anxiously await each day to provide a means by which they can grow spiritually, cognitively, physically, adaptively (socially), and communicatively.

I am looking forward with great anticipation to a new school year.  After receiving my Bachelor of Science in Education degree this past spring, I accepted the offer to teach the preschool program here at Calvary.  I have been in the Kindergarten classroom as the aide for the last eight years and have observed “up close and personal” the teachings of a master teacher, Miss Sandy Butler.  I feel it an honor and a privilege to teach at my alma mater, having gradudated CCS in 1984.

I also count it an honor, and do not take the responsibility lightly, of helping to shape and mold young lives, spiritually and mentally each day.  If you or someone you know is interested in our program, please call the office to make an appointment to visit or e-mail (lisa.duty@calvarychristianky.org) We would love to meet you. Jesus said in Mark 10:14 “Let the little children come to me . . . for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Children are significant to Jesus and to us here at Calvary Christian Preschool!

Curriculum
Our curriculum provides various means of teaching. The daily schedule begins with pledges, prayer, exercises, and circle time. Circle time allows us all to sing, play instruments, do calendar and weather, and the Bible lesson time. Center time follows, providing opportunities for play in learning centers such as dramatic play, art, science, puzzle/reading, computer, blocks, and touch. The children bring their own snack and then continue the day with our theme for that week involving the letter/sound of the week, along with other areas of learning (shapes, colors, reading readiness activities, math, etc.). Outdoor play or large motor movement and then story time and prayer conclude our full 3-hour preschool day. The preschool ACSI curriculum is also utilized.

Accreditation
Our ratios (1:10) are well below the Kentucky State Regulations. This allows us to closely observe and meet the needs of each of the children in our care. The preschool has met all accreditation requirements for the Association of Christian Schools International Early Childhood Education Division. The ACSI accreditation is not only equivalent to the NAECY accreditation process, but is a step above in various areas.
