A.C.S.I. ACCREDITATION AND MEMBERSHIP

Calvary Christian School is a member of the Ohio River Valley Regional Division of the Association of Christian School International (A.C.S.I.). The largest Christian school organization in the world, A.C.S.I., founded in 1978, has over 3,500 member schools, representing nearly one million Christian day school students.

Membership provides many practical resources such as conferences for teachers, legal defense, accreditation and certification opportunities, student activities (speech meets, music festival, academic meets, camps, science fairs, athletic tournaments, etc.), publications, directory listing in its national publication and insurance programs.

Calvary received accreditation status though A.C.S.I. in June of 1994. A.C.S.I. is recognized as a leading accreditation institution throughout the world. It is well known for maintaining quality standards with a Christ-centered philosophy. A.C.S.I.'s accreditation is recognized and accepted by the Kentucky Board of Education.

STATE ACCREDITATION STATUS

Calvary Christian School holds high academic standards. The graduates of C.C.S. have achieved excellent records in entering and succeeding academically in colleges or vocations.

Operating as a direct ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, C.C.S. chooses not to seek a charter from the Kentucky State Department of Education. The school stands on every family's right to complete religious freedom in the education of its children. Some Christian schools conform to the state's demands, but many others are electing not to seek accreditation by the state on the grounds of separation of church and state, seeing full compliance with state requirements as inconsistent with Christian standards. It is the position of C.C.S. that the state's philosophy of education, as it is now enunciated, is humanistic and, therefore, must decline to submit to these requirements. C.C.S. stands in agreement with the U.S. Supreme Court, which has defined humanism as a religion. If the Bible, the basis of our national life, cannot be taught in the state schools, most certainly humanistic and secular values should not be imposed upon Christian schools.

Although C.C.S. meets and exceeds the minimum educational requirements of the state of Kentucky and adheres to all safety and fire codes with routine inspections, obedience to the Word of G6d must always take precedence over approval by the state. In the light of the Supreme Court of Kentucky decision rendered in October of 1979 (Kentucky vs. Rudasill) such obedience to God grants immunity to Christian schools of all state control and therefore affording parents the opportunity to provide a Christian education for their children.

SACS/CITA ACCREDITATION

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Commission on International and Trans-regional Accreditation awarded accreditation to Calvary Christian School in June of 2002.

Regional and national accreditation encourages school improvement, which focuses on student performance. To maintain accreditation, accredited schools must conduct a continuing program of educational improvement, meet standards of accreditation, improve student performance, submit annual reports which certify the completion of plans for educational improvement as well as assessment of the school's ability to meet standards, and be re-evaluated by outside teams of professional educators at five-year intervals.

Through regional and national accreditation, faculty, students, and parents benefit by knowing that teaching conditions in accredited schools meet necessary requirements and that efforts are continuously made for school improvement which focus on student performance.
